The Squamish-based B.C. Grizzlies won’t be playing full time in the Minor League Basketball Association, or MLBA, this year, the team announced on Facebook.
League organizers had hoped the team, which was expected to be stationed at Quest University, to compete in the regular season starting this month.
However, a “lack of corporate sponsorships” created challenges for the group.
As a result, the Grizzlies will be considered a “branding team” and play only two games this year.
Organizers say they are hoping to attract corporate sponsorship for the group by next year.
Ƶapphad a small taste of the MLBA in February when the Vancouver Dragons took on the Quad City Flames in a show match.
