Quest University basketball player Krystal Schouten was named to the Women's 2nd Team All-Stars and the Women's All-Rookie Team by the British Columbia Colleges' Athletic Association (BCCAA) this week.

The first-year Kermode from Winnipeg, Man. broke a school record for most points in one game, tallying 40 points against Kwantlen Polytechnic University in early February. The BCCAA named her Female Player of the Week after her impressive performance.

Schouten said she is extremely excited about the honour, and rushed to tell her mom after head coach Todd Jordan gave her the news. After her first varsity season, she can tell the team is headed toward big things, she said.

"My experience with the team has been great because [] I feel that we have a lot of team chemistry. I think, with a little more time playing together, we can really improve over the next few years," she said.

In its second official BCCAA season, Quest finished in seventh place with a record of six wins and 12 losses, improving on last season's record of three wins and 15 losses for ninth place.
