The ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµappdetachment at 1000 Finch Dr. on Jan. 12. It will be closed starting Jan. 16.

ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµappMunicipal Hall will be the temporary home of the ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµappRCMP. 

The ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµappRCMP detachment will be closed for $155,000 worth of renovations starting Jan. 16, according to a District of ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµappnews release sent out on Jan. 12.  

The front counter area is getting a facelift to "meet the needs of the growing community."

“An expanded front counter will allow ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµappRCMP to meet community public safety needs while creating more administrative workspaces within the detachment to satisfy increased demand,” said District of ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµappdirector of public safety Megan Latimer in the release. “The renovations will also feature design and materials upgrades that offer risk-reduction benefits for front counter staff.”

When it reopens in approximately six weeks, the existing front counter will be expanded into the large lobby and include four kiosks to offer RCMP and Bylaw Enforcement Client Services. 

The project is being funded by the District of ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµapp"to enhance public services while minimizing risk to front desk staff," the release continues.

Fingerprinting services paused

Civil fingerprinting services are being temporarily suspended while the closure is in effect.

Payments for Bylaw tickets or Police Information Checks can be made at Municipal Hall at 37955 Second Avenue during regular hours of operation: Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The RCMP non-emergency phone lines will continue to operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, throughout the closure at 604.892.6100. Non-emergency crimes may also be reported online at . For emergencies, please call 911.
